Benefits of doing bodyweight exercises

A lot of the exercises that we do in our workouts are body weight exercises.
I love training with kettlebells, dummbells, battling ropes, slam balls, and you name it! Bodyweight exercises are also a fantastic way to condition your body, and ramp up your fitness to the next level.

Here are a few reasons why bodyweight training can be so good for you:

No equipment needed

Most bodyweight exercise can be done with minimum space and no equipment. If you like to do pull ups, you could go to a play ground and use the monkey bars. Really, there are not many excuses, you can use your own bodyweight whenever you want and where you want to increase your fitness levels.

Bodyweight exercises are a great way to build strength

Although bodyweight training is not about pushing or pulling heavy weights, bodyweight strength training can be a great way to get overall strength and build muscle.
Some people might think that bodyweight training is only for beginners. Well, I can assure you that most common basic bodyweight exercises can be modified to everyone’s fitness level, even if it is high.
Just think about the comparison between a knee push up and a push up on just one arm.
The beauty is that bodyweight training offers endless variation.

Also a great way to burn calories and get lean

A lot of great calorie burning exercises are bodyweight exercises and a lot of these are awesome for High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT). Let’s think about burpees, box jumps, star jumps, mountain climbers, tuck jumps, sprints, etc.
On top of this, most bodyweight exercises use multiple muscle groups. The more muscles that are used in a certain movement, the more calories your body will burn.

Better performance when playing sports

A lot of bodyweight exercises are natural functional movements like running, jumping, hopping, crawling, pushing and pulling. These often apply in relation to a lot of sports and physical activities.
Mastering a wide range of bodyweight movements will benefit you while playing sports and doing other activities.
